Severe Weather Awareness Week

Post by wb5rmg » Wed Feb 25, 2009 8:57 am

From the National Weather Service :
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hun/preparednes ... k-2009.php

This is the annual Severe Weather Awareness Week, please visit the web site
for more details and information to refresh your awareness. Many offices
in the area will be conducting a Tornado Drill this morning.

For those that are registered with the Huntsville Madison County Radio
Amateur Civil Emergency Service and the ARRL Amateur Radio Emergency Service,
don't forget that we have a new website : http://hmcraces.org . . .

Both organizations consolidate their resources and are trying to maintain
a training and capabilities database on-line, but your information is
essential to fill in the blanks... Please re-visit the site and take this
opportunity to update your user profile. The site can only be as good as
the information we put in. Many of us are not able to actively participate
in radio activities while in our work locations, and can stay informed
and provide other resources via this on-line presence.

If you have not registered on this new site, or have not been to any of
our monthly meetings - take this opportunity to introduce yourself, and
help us provide this service to our community. There are many parts of
the country that only wish that they had the level of cooperation and
understanding that we enjoy with our local EMA and NWS. Lets get behind
this appreciation of what we can offer, and provide our served agencies
with the support that they certainly deserve.

I have several meetings this morning, and we are expecting a Tornado
Drill this morning, but feel free to send any inquiries about the new
web site directly to me. I will need to activate any new username
requests, so be patient - I will get to them as soon as possible.
If registering as a new user, please use your amateur radio call sign
for the username. Also feel free to forward this to anyone you think may
not be on the [harc-al] list - that may be able to add value to our team.

Thanks for your time and interest. 73 for now. /;^)
