Huntsville-Madison County CERT Training Classes

CERT training includes disaster preparedness, disaster fire suppression, basic disaster medical operations,
and light search and rescue operations.

CERT training is open to all Madison County residents at least 18 years of age.

The Huntsville-Madison County EMA will conduct CERT training classes May 12 – June 30.
Classes will be held Tuesdays from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at the

May 12 - Disaster Preparedness
May 19 - Fire Safety
May 26 - Medical Operations Part I
June 2 - Medical Operations Part II
Jun 9 - Light search & rescue
Jun 16 - CERT organization / Disaster psychology
Jun 23 - Huntsville terrorism awareness
Jun 30 - Exercise & graduation

The schedule is subject to change due to instructor availability.

The CERT course is taught in Madison County by a trained team of first responders who have completed a CERT Train-the-Trainer course conducted by instructors selected by the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. CERT instructors primarily come from one of the local emergency responder agencies such as: HEMSI (ambulance service), Huntsville Fire & Rescue, Madison Fire & Rescue, Emergency Management, and some individuals that have been in the CERT program for some time and volunteer as an instructor through VOAD.
